Life and Leadership Coach

MA Social Work (Wits), BA Psychology Honours (Unisa), Certified Coach(NLI)

Hi, I'm Celine

I'm a Life and Leadership Coach and a Social Worker in Private Practice. See below for information on my experience, education, my approach, and how to get in touch with me.

After completing my Social Work degree (at Rhodes University) and Social Work Honours degree in Industrial Social Work at Wits University, I practiced as a Social Worker at the Department of Health and Welfare, working with a range of clients and families, at SANCA Lulama Treatment Centre for Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and then moved to Engen Petroleum, where I worked as a Industrial Social Worker/EAP co-ordinator, with employees and their families. My experience here included trauma management and support, individual counselling, support groups for alcoholism and life skills education. I have a love of learning, and continued to study part-time, obtaining my Honours Degree in Psychology (Unisa) and my Masters Degree in Industrial Social Work (Wits). My career then expanded to include 25 years as a Human Resources Manager in the Petroleum and Retail industry. Here I obtained experience in leadership development, facilitation, project and change management, together with all the usual HR functions. My passion has always been to enable people to grow and develop their potential and to create the necessary environment for this to happen. After obtaining my certification as a Life and Leadership Coach through the NeuroLeadership Institute in the UK, I started my private practice, as a Social Worker and Life and Leadership Coach.

My values of confidentiality, together with the belief that we do our best thinking and problem solving in an environment free of judgement are very important to me.

My years of both personal and professional experience have taught me that "we are allowed to be a Masterpiece and a Work in Progress at the same time" (Sophie Bush).

In coaching, through our conversation, I use what we call a "solutions focused" approach where the focus is on identifying your priorities or goals, then providing a supportive relationship for you to work on actions which you want to achieve. As a coach, I enable you to do your "best thinking" in a relationship free of judgement.

Often, potential clients like the idea of "having a coach", but are not sure what they want to "work on" except to grow and develop. I help you to identify areas you may like to work on.

Depending on the focus, coaching can take place in one session but for best results, between 4 to 12 sessions.

In counselling, I use various approaches to support you, working with your strengths (and identifying what these are) to empower you in resolving your current challenge. This will involve understanding the background to the problem, followed by agreeing with you on the ideal cognitive behavioral approach, depending on the nature of the problem.

My background and professional experience enables me to identify the approach which will support your needs best. I may also refer you, depending on the circumstances, to another resource which will provide the best support possible.

Depending on the focus, counselling will usually involve several sessions

What approach do I use?

Counselling and Coaching can be held online or at my office, based in Durban.
